    Certificate IV in Government (Project Management)

    Overview

    This course provides the skills, techniques and tools to properly plan, manage and execute a project. It also aims to explain project management requirements in a broader organisational context.

    Who Should Attend

    People who are responsible for managing projects in local, state or federal government departments or agencies.

    Entry Requirements

    To be eligible to enter this Certificate IV you will need:

    • be of Mature Age (20 years or over)

    • work for a government department or agency or private sector equivalent

    • have access to specific work practices and procedures required to demonstrate competency in the units of study being undertaken

    Duration

    3 months part-time

    This course is delivered in two sections.

    Section 1 Public Sector Project Management Program

    • Manage Simple Projects
    • Close Simple Projects
    • Use Resources to Achieve Work Unit Goals
    • Provide Input to Change Processes
    • Gather and Analyse Information
    • Identify and Treat Risks

    Section 2 Working in the Public Sector

    Units of Study

    • Uphold the values and principles of the public service
    • Comply with legislation in the public sector
    • Work effectively in the organisation
    • Work effectively with diversity
    • Support policy implementation
    • Apply knowledge of government processes
    • Deliver and monitor service to clients
    • Follow defined OH&S procedures

    If you successfully complete Section 1 you will be awarded a Statement of Attainment in Public Sector Project Management.

    If you successfully complete Section 2 you will be awarded a Statement of Attainment in Working in the Public Sector.

    When you have successfully completed both Section 1 and 2 you will be awarded a Certificate IV in Government (Project Management).


    Recognition Service

    You will have the opportunity to apply for Recognition prior to undertaking this course. This service recognises skills and knowledge gained through work, previous study and life experiences that may be relevant to this course. If your application for recognition is successful it could reduce the study time required for completion.
